The Zuhrah Shrine Flyers were founded in 1957 by a group of 38 Shriners, who were pilots. The original purpose was to provide air transportation for the Temple Divan, Shrine Children’s Hospital Doctors, patients and their families.
Since inception, the Flyers have enlarged their scope of services to
the Temple and the community.
Helicopter carts are readily visible at many parades around the state
as well as the Midwest and Imperial Sessions.
Members are still required to be aviation oriented. This includes not only pilots, but mechanics, air traffic controllers and skydivers. A true aviation spirit coupled with a common Masonic bond prevails at all Flyer functions. The Flyers meet on the third Thursday of each month at various locations around the State.
