The Bloomington Area Shrine Club (BASC) was organized in 1955 to promote the best interests of Shrinedom in the community, to form a link between our members and ZUHRAH Shrine Temple, and to interest all Masons in the worthwhile work of the Shrine. Nearly 200 members take part in the club’s many activities. You can keep as busy as you wish with the Club by participating in and sponsoring parties and activities throughout the year. The early January Holiday/Installation Party is followed in late January with the Potentate’s Ball. A Cabana Room is rented by BASC. BASC members and their Ladies decorate this room and the nobles serve great ice cream drinks during the festivities. The year continues with a Ladies Appreciation Night, usually in May and a summer event. This may be a mystery outing, or an announced outing such as a Luau.
Its not all parties with this crew though-serious fund-raising takes place twice a year with the well-known BASC Spring and Fall pancake & Sausage Breakfasts. In addition to this, the Club also serves dinner for ZUHRAH’S monthly meeting in February, actively participates in the Annual Shrine Circus at Target Center by selling circus souvenirs and sponsors a “Breakfast with Santa” event at the ZUHRAH Shrine Temple in December.
All BASC members maintain good standing in the Blue Lodge and the Temple to which they belong. The BASC meets 6:30 P.M. on the second Tuesday of the month(except July and August).
